Marcus Rashford

There’s been so much written and said about the work which Marcus Rashford has been doing outside football that I have to admit being slightly surprised to see his manager come out recently and say that he needed to focus on his football.

Football at Rashford’s level is big business… it’s not the joy of kids playing in the park it is business. Manchester United’s turnover averages @ £500 - £600 million a year. Does anyone think that Solskaer’s comments are out of concern for Rashford’s football career or protecting the value of their asset?

Let there be no mistake about it: Rashford has done some incredible charity work since he decided to break that media script and put his heart and soul into something he believes in…

What is more important?

A football club’s balance sheet (do child food poverty campaigners buy football shirts?) or putting food on the table of kids who are going hungry? I know what gets my vote…
